Dr. Markus Hummel, CEO MEAG MUNICH ERGO AssetManagement GmbH

Dr. Markus Hummel is the CEO of MEAG and directly responsible for the Communications, Human Resources, Strategy & Transformation, Research, and Legal, Regulatory & Compliance units. Before coming to MEAG in 2026, Dr. Hummel was Group CRO (Chief Risk Officer) at Munich Re, where he was responsible for all risk management topics within Munich Re Group. He began his career in the Capital Markets division of BayernLB, before hiring on at Munich Re as Senior Risk Manager in 2004. Markus Hummel earned a PhD in Physics at the Munich Technical University, and studied in parallel to his doctorate Economics at the FernUniversität Hagen.
